Digital products are one of my favourite ways to make money online because once the product is made, it keeps selling while I sleep, eat, watch TV, and do literally nothing.
That’s what passive income actually looks like in real life.
AI has made it so straightforward to make digital products that there is really no excuse anymore. You don’t need to be a designer. You don’t need to be a tech genius. You don’t even need to have years of experience in something before you can package knowledge and sell it.
You just need the right idea, the right tools, and the willingness to start.
So today, I’m going to share 7 digital product ideas you can create using AI — ideas that can actually make you passive income, not just one day, but starting sooner than you think.
Let’s get into it.
But First: A Quick Word About Where I Started
I didn’t start with digital products.
I started with Marketplaces, Medium articles, and a YouTube channel. Slowly, I began to understand that the real money online wasn’t just in making content: it was in packaging what you know into something people can buy.
If you’ve ever wondered how people actually make money writing on Medium — not just claps and views, but real income — that playbook breaks it all down. The strategy, the consistency, the writing habits, all of it.
I’ll talk more about it at the end. But first, let’s talk about the 7 ideas.
Idea #1: AI-Written eBooks
This is the most beginner-friendly digital product idea on this list, and it’s also the one with the least barrier to entry.
Here’s what most people don’t know: you don’t have to write an eBook from scratch yourself. You can use ChatGPT to help you outline it, draft it, and refine it — and then you polish it in your own voice.
This is exactly how I approach eBooks, and it saves me hours.
The key is to write about something specific. Not “how to make money online” — that’s too broad. Think more like “how to make your first $100 on Gumroad” or “10 Canva templates that sell on Etsy.” The more specific the topic, the more your eBook feels like it was made for someone.
How AI helps you here:
ChatGPT can help you outline the entire eBook in minutes. You give it a topic, tell it who the reader is, and ask it to create a chapter-by-chapter breakdown. Then you go chapter by chapter and ask it to expand each one. After that, you bring your personal experience and voice into it — the stories, the examples, the results you’ve seen.
For design, Canva has beautiful eBook templates. You can paste your content in, adjust the colours to match your brand, and your product is ready.
Where to sell it:
Gumroad, Selar, Payhip, or even directly through your social media bio link. I’ve sold eBooks through Medium, Instagram, and YouTube — and the beauty is that once it’s listed, you don’t have to do anything. The link does the work.
Pro tip: Make the cover look professional. People judge digital products by their covers just like physical books. Canva has templates that make this easy — and AI tools like Nano Banana can help you generate custom cover visuals.
Idea #2: Canva Templates
Okay, this one is special to me because Canva templates were one of my first real passive income streams.
I have different shops where I sell Canva templates, and they’ve been quietly making me money for a long time now. The beautiful thing about templates is that you make them once and sell them over and over again.
And with AI, making templates has gotten even easier.
Here’s how it works: You use ChatGPT to give you ideas for templates that are actually in demand. Ask it something like, “What Canva templates are people searching for on Etsy right now?” or “What types of social media templates do small businesses need?” — and it will give you a solid starting list.
Then you go into Canva and build them out.
Popular template categories that sell well:
- Instagram post and story templates
- Pinterest pin templates
- Media kit templates for influencers
- Resume and CV templates
- Planner and journal templates
- Business proposal templates
- Content calendar templates
You can also use AI tools like Ideogram or Adobe Firefly to generate background images or design elements that you incorporate into your templates — making them look more unique and high-end.
Where to sell:
Etsy is the biggest marketplace for Canva templates. But you can also sell them on Gumroad, your own website, or even your Instagram page. If you build an audience on Medium, Pinterest, or YouTube around design or productivity, you have a built-in customer base.
The more you niche down, the better. A “50-piece Instagram template pack for coaches” will sell better than a generic “social media templates bundle.”
Idea #3: AI-Generated Printables
Printables are one of the most underrated passive income products, and they are incredibly easy to make with AI.
What’s a printable? It’s a digital file that someone buys and prints at home. Think: planners, habit trackers, checklists, meal planners, budget sheets, affirmation cards, prayer journals, kids activity sheets, grocery lists — the list goes on and on.
People buy these all the time on Etsy. And I mean all the time.
Here’s how AI fits in: ChatGPT can help you come up with printable ideas, write the content (like the prompts in a journal or the categories in a planner), and even suggest the layout. Then you design it in Canva using their templates.
If you want to go even faster, tools like Microsoft Designer or Adobe Express have AI features that can help you generate layouts from scratch.
Niche printable ideas that sell:
- Budget trackers for beginners
- Gratitude journals with daily prompts
- Prayer and devotion planners
- Kids homework schedules
- Meal prep planners
- Small business income trackers
- Manifestation and vision board kits
The beauty of printables is that they’re cheap to buy (usually $2–$10), which means people don’t think twice before purchasing. And because you can sell thousands of the same file, your income can scale without any extra work on your end.
Idea #4: Online Mini-Courses
A mini-course is not the same as a big, full-blown online course. It’s shorter, more focused, and easier to consume. Think of it as a “quick win” product — something a beginner can go through in a weekend and immediately apply.
And AI makes creating them so much more manageable than it used to be.
Here’s the thing: most people overthink courses. They think they need a fancy camera, a studio, a full curriculum team. You don’t. You need a topic you know well, a way to record your screen or your voice, and a platform to host it.
How AI helps:
ChatGPT can help you build your entire course curriculum. Tell it your topic, your target audience, and how long you want the course to be — and it will give you a module-by-module outline. From there, you write your lessons, record them (screen recording or audio), and upload them.
For script writing, you can tell ChatGPT to “write a lesson script that teaches [topic] to a complete beginner in a friendly, conversational tone” — and it will do exactly that. Then you record yourself reading and teaching it.
Tools to build your mini-course:
- Loom or OBS for recording
- Teachable, Gumroad, or Selar for hosting and selling
- Canva for slides and lesson visuals
- ChatGPT for scripts, outlines, and lesson content
Ideas for mini-courses:
- How to start a Medium page from scratch
- How to design and sell Canva templates
- How to use ChatGPT to write faster
- Beginner’s guide to affiliate marketing
- How to grow on Pinterest organically
These can sell for anywhere from $17 to $97, depending on the depth and audience. And once the course is recorded and uploaded, it sells itself.
Idea #5: AI Prompt Packs
This one might sound niche, but trust me — it is a growing market.
As more and more people start using AI tools like ChatGPT, MidJourney, and Claude, there’s one problem they all run into: they don’t know what to say to get good results. They don’t know how to prompt the AI effectively.
That’s where you come in.
A prompt pack is literally a collection of pre-written prompts that people can copy and paste into an AI tool to get a specific result. You sell them as a digital product — usually a PDF or a Notion doc.
Examples of prompt packs that sell:
- 50 ChatGPT prompts for content creators
- 100 prompts to write viral Medium articles
- ChatGPT prompts for small business owners
- MidJourney prompts for creating brand visuals
- Prompts for writing eBooks faster
Here’s the wild part: you can use ChatGPT to help you write the prompts. Yes, you use AI to create an AI product. Ask ChatGPT to “generate 30 powerful prompts for [audience/goal]” and then test each one, refine the ones that work best, and package them up.
You can design the PDF in Canva and sell it for $7–$27. It’s a low-effort, high-value product once you understand what your audience struggles with.
If you teach people how to use AI tools on your YouTube channel, your Medium page, or your newsletter — a prompt pack is a natural thing to sell to that same audience.
Idea #6: Digital Planners and Notion Templates
Notion has become one of the most popular productivity tools in the world, and people are buying Notion templates like crazy.
A Notion template is a pre-built system inside Notion that someone can duplicate into their own account. It could be a content calendar, a business dashboard, a client tracker, a goal-setting system, a study planner — anything that helps someone stay organised.
And AI makes building these incredibly fast.
ChatGPT can help you design the structure of your Notion template before you even open Notion. You describe what you want the template to do, and it maps out the databases, properties, and views you should build. Then you go into Notion and build it.
Notion template ideas that sell:
- Content creation dashboard for creators
- Monthly budget and savings tracker
- Client onboarding system for freelancers
- Side hustle income tracker
- Daily productivity planner
- YouTube video planning system
Once you’ve built your template, you turn it into a shareable link and sell access to that link through Gumroad or your own website.
People charge anywhere from $5 to $50 for Notion templates, and some creators have built entire businesses just selling them. Pair this with a YouTube tutorial or a Medium article showing people how to use the template, and your content becomes your marketing.
Idea #7: AI-Powered Newsletters (That Sell Products)
Okay, I know what you’re thinking — a newsletter isn’t a digital product itself. But hear me out.
A newsletter is a business. And when you build a newsletter around a specific topic, it becomes the engine that sells all of your other digital products passively.
Here’s how it works: You start a free newsletter on Beehiiv or Substack. You pick a niche — let’s say AI side hustles, or making money on Medium, or passive income for beginners. Then you use ChatGPT to help you write your newsletter issues consistently. You draft the idea, ChatGPT helps you flesh it out, you add your personal voice and experience, and you send it.
Inside each newsletter, you mention your digital products naturally. “If you want the full breakdown, I created a playbook for this — you can grab it here.” That’s it. That’s the strategy.
Over time, as your subscriber list grows, your newsletter becomes a passive income machine — because every new subscriber who joins starts receiving your older emails (if you set up a welcome sequence), discovers your products, and some of them buy.
How AI helps run the newsletter:
- ChatGPT for drafting content ideas and writing assists
- AI tools for repurposing newsletter content into social media posts
- Automation tools on Beehiiv for welcome sequences and email funnels
The key is consistency. Send once a week, be genuinely helpful, and always have something to point people to — a product, a free resource, a Medium article that earns you money.
Something That Ties All of This Together
Here’s what I want you to understand.
All 7 of these product ideas have one thing in common: they need an audience to sell to.
And that’s where content comes in.
Whether it’s YouTube videos, Medium articles, Instagram posts, or Pinterest pins — your content is what brings people to your products. It’s the traffic. It’s the trust-builder. And without traffic, even the best digital product just sits on a shelf collecting digital dust.
This is exactly why I’ve invested so much of my time into learning how to write on Medium.
Medium is — and I genuinely mean this — one of the most underrated income platforms for beginner creators. You write, Medium distributes your content to thousands of readers already on the platform, those readers discover your products, and you earn. It’s that simple when you understand how the platform works.
But most beginners get it wrong.
They write whatever they feel like. They ignore SEO. They don’t know how to structure their stories for maximum reads. They don’t understand what makes people click, read all the way through, and then actually buy from them.
That’s exactly what I created my Medium Income Playbook for.
My Medium Income Playbook — And Why It Was Made For You
I built this playbook for one specific person: the beginner who knows they have something to share, but has no idea how to turn Medium into an actual income stream.
Inside the playbook, I break down:
- How to find topics that actually get read on Medium (not just by you, but by thousands of strangers)
- The writing habits that help you stay consistent without burning out
- How to structure your articles so readers stay to the end
- How to use Medium as a traffic engine for your digital products
- The monetization strategies I use personally — Partner Program, digital products, affiliate marketing
This isn’t theory. This is what I’ve actually done to build my Medium page to 45,000 followers and create a consistent income from writing online.
If you’re serious about using digital products to make passive income, you need traffic. And if you want traffic without paying for ads, Medium is one of the best free platforms available to you right now.
The playbook shows you exactly how to use it.
So, What’s Your Next Step?
Here’s what I don’t want you to do: read this article, feel motivated for five minutes, and then go back to scrolling.
I want you to pick one of these 7 ideas and start today.
Not tomorrow. Not when you feel ready. Today.
Because here’s the truth about passive income — it’s not magic. It requires you to do the work upfront so the income can flow later. The eBook doesn’t write itself. The template doesn’t design itself. The newsletter doesn’t build itself.
But with AI? You have a collaborator now. You have a tool that can do so much of the heavy lifting for you.
And with the right strategy — like what’s inside the Medium Income Playbook — you have a roadmap.
So here’s what I want you to do:
Step 1: Pick one digital product idea from this list that excites you.
Step 2: Open ChatGPT and start brainstorming your topic, your audience, and your outline.
Step 3: Grab my Medium Income Playbook so you understand how to use Medium to drive free, organic traffic to whatever you build.
Because the best digital product in the world means nothing without people seeing it.
And I want you to build something great and actually make money from it.
Let’s go.
Great content! Keep up the good work!
